Haven Bed Project
Starting with only concept art, I engineered the design of this bed with ease of manufacture in mind. Our customers must be able to follow simple instructions, and be able to consistently create a perfect result. The entire process from concept to first shipment took 10 months, eventually selling several hundred units.
The Model
The model I created includes all configurations of the bed designs and sizes. Scaling automatically and parametrically for ease of use.
Drawings
Drawings sent to our overseas factory needed to be as simple as possible to avoid any mistakes.
CAM
The CAM was also done parametrically with a program called COBUS. The file I created utilized variables and parameters that automatically scaled all machining operations to match the size of imported dxf files. This method made a 2-week process into a 1-day one.
Instructions
I also created the process for assembly that customers perform. It needed to be simple to understand, and able to be assembled without help.
